Big Boys Don't Cry

Big boys don't cry
Don't ask why, son
Just dry the tears
Don't let fears show
The years will pass
Scars amass now
A glass heart breaks
A man takes pain
He aches alone
Man has grown up
His own son cries
No more lies told
He tries what's right
Holds him tightly
Don't fight the tears.

I love the evolution of the man through this poem. Awesome message! What's that song: Everybody Hurts Sometime.......

beautiful... yes change is possible, and ultimately inevitable... but intentional change, change for the good... that is exquisite.

I hope you will join me and many others by participating in the gratitude quilt... more info is at the top of my blog.

Man evolves from not shedding a tear to holding a son and telling him to not fight them. Beautiful piece..!

Beautiful response to the form. Great admiration for it. I found it somewhat a difficult twist to try. Well done Lola!

Good enough to read to my son.

Thanks for all the kind comments, folks! This poem was inspired by my bereavement group for kids at hospice. We recently had a discussion about boys being told that they shouldn't cry. How absurd!
